A Practice Built on Listening and Real-Life Insight
I established EP Together in early 2023, working directly with local authorities to provide educational psychology advice for Education, Health and Care Plan Needs Assessments. Through my personal and professional experience, I recognised that parents wanted direct access to high-quality, trusted educational psychology assessment and support from educational psychologists who ‘get it’. I spoke to parents who had been trying to get the right support for years and did not feel heard. I know what it feels like to be asked to do something that just does not work for your family or that you have tried many times before. I have seen families and schools overwhelmed trying to balance a raft of recommendations from multiple professionals. As a result, EP Together decided to welcome requests for support directly from parents and we committed to start with listening and end with clear insights and actionable next steps based on real life.
Early in our journey as a company, we were invited to provide supervision for educational psychologists working in Mental Health Support Teams for an NHS Trust. I jumped at the chance. From here our supervision packages were born. As a service, we think safe, reflective and supportive supervision is crucial to personal and professional growth. As a bonus, we can’t think of any better professional development for us than having the opportunity to partner through supervision with amazing educational psychologists and practitioners focused on developing whole school approaches to mental health and wellbeing.
We place great value on being a learning organisation. We value difference and aspire to be neuro-affirming and culturally competent in our assessments and interactions.
We know you want to ensure you are working with experienced educational psychologists. I have worked as an educational psychologist for over a decade, including in local authorities, leading mental health support teams in the NHS, tutoring at the postgraduate level and in independent practice. Previously, I worked in the Department for Education, within the education charity sector and as a qualified teacher. I have enjoyed undertaking additional qualifications throughout my career, including as a Certified Sensory Inclusion Facilitator.
We value individuals as experts in their lives: That is why we start with listening. We also take care to understand the views and aspirations of the young people we work with, taking account of how they prefer to communicate.
We are inclusive: We proudly champion diversity. We are on a constant journey to understanding, appreciating and being responsive to differences.
We are solution finders: We have a rich understanding of the education system and we are experienced in applying psychology to help to unlock situations that feel stuck.
We love simple language: We don’t like having to look up new terms, so we don’t think you should have to.
We love bringing together people and ideas: We help turn insights from children, young people, families and professionals into clear, practical ideas that promote positive change.
We are always evidence informed: We use research evidence and evidence that is developed from what works in real-life situations.
